“Meadow Anywhere” is a stunning and unique range of wildflower and grass seed mixes sold by Hillier Nurseries as part of their Natural Choice range. They have been developed in partnership with social enterprise Habitat Aid, which promotes UK conservation charities and specialist nurseries, and their charity partners. The seed packets can be ordered through the Hillier’s site, and volumes over 1kg through Habitat Aid.

Why Bother?

97% of our wildflower meadows have disappeared over the last 60 years, which is not just a tragedy for us, but also for many of the beautiful and beneficial insects and birds which thrive in them. The loss of this kind of lovely habitat is an important factor behind many species’ declines. Trying to compensate for its loss is an important part of the work of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and Butterfly Conservation, who each recieve 50p for every seed packet sold. It might be impossible to replace a medieval meadow overnight, but these seed mixes will help create lovely smaller versions of something similar for borders, patios, planters and terraces.
